Atulya
About Atulya
The median hospice stay is eighteen days. Every day lost to paperwork is a day a patient doesn't get the comfort, dignity, and family time hospice is meant to provide. We're here to give those days back.
Our mission
Hospice is one of the most meaningful forms of care in medicine — and one of the hardest to access in time. Patients are referred when they have weeks, sometimes days, and the eligibility process can consume most of what remains. Our mission is to remove that delay entirely, so the people who qualify for hospice actually receive it while they still can.
We build software that turns days of fax, phone tag, and re-keying into a workflow that finishes in a single visit, so nurses can be present at the bedside, physicians can decide eligibility from wherever they are, and families can stop waiting for permission to grieve, hold a hand, or say goodbye at home.
Why this matters
Behind every eligibility decision is a real person and a family in crisis. A delayed admit can mean another avoidable hospital trip, another night of uncontrolled pain, another week without the spiritual, emotional, and clinical support hospice is designed to bring. National data shows more than a third of hospice patients die within seven days of admission — far too often because the paperwork, not the prognosis, was the bottleneck.
We started Atulya because the people doing this work deserve better tools, and the patients they serve deserve more time in care. That is the standard we hold ourselves to on every screen we ship.
What we solve
Today, eligibility runs on fragmented phone calls, scanned faxes, partial records, and physician signatures that wait for the end of a shift. Nurses re-key the same data into three systems. Physicians chase missing information from the parking lot between visits. Intake managers reconcile spreadsheets while a family at home waits for a call back.
Atulya replaces that with one connected path: structured bedside intake on a tablet, instant mobile review for the physician, an AI-assisted Certification of Terminal Illness draft for them to refine and sign, and live visibility for managers across every case. One capture. One decision. One smooth transition into care for the patient, the family, and the team supporting them.
The people we build for
- Patients who need comfort, dignity, and the right care now, not next week.
- Families navigating one of the hardest moments of their lives, who deserve clarity instead of waiting on hold.
- Nurses doing the home visits, who entered this field for the patients, not the paperwork.
- Physicians carrying heavy caseloads, who need to make confident eligibility decisions from wherever they are.
- Intake teams and managers who hold the entire pipeline together and deserve to see it clearly.
How we work
- We design alongside the nurses, intake teams, and hospice physicians who live this workflow every day.
- We treat patient data with the gravity it deserves: HIPAA-aligned safeguards, least-privilege access, full audit trails.
- We build AI to support clinical judgment, never to replace it. A physician signs every certification.
- We measure what matters to people: time-to-decision, days actually spent in hospice, families served sooner.
